“A sister is like yourself in a different movie, a movie that stars you in a different life.” — Deborah Tannen

Dear sister,

Though I may not always say it with exactly the right words(or even out loud). But today I want you to know that it makes me feel good and very proud to have a sister like you. And I want to thank you for all that you have done for me throughout life.

Together on life’s journey, we have traveled, Sharing all the joys of life, keeping each other company. Sharing lots of happy times & sometimes sharing tears. Always leaning on each other together through the years. And no matter where life leads us. Dear sister, know it’s true, It has been a joy to travel down the road of life with you.

A big sis is like a mix between a mom and a best friend. Luckily, I am blessed enough to have one of the best big sisters in the world! I appreciate the many ways you have helped me. Thank you for taking care of me, for always helping me to pick the best outfits. Thank you for making delicious food for me when mom wasn’t feeling well or tired. Thanks for making midnight snacks for me especially in exams when I had really a tough routine. You even guided me on how to study well before the exam. If my hair’s a mess, you’ll be the first to tell me. If my face looks swollen and I look like a zombie, you’ll tell me with no hesitation. I really appreciate all those things.

Without you, my childhood would have never been the same. Now that we’re adults I can better appreciate all that you have done for me throughout the years. Thank you for being someone I can always turn to for advice, and who will stop me from going down the wrong path. Thank you for loving me even when I didn’t love myself and thank you for lifting me up when I couldn’t stand on my own. You know what makes me happy and you know what makes me sad, and I never have to say it out loud.

Thank you for being part of my foundation. For all of the advice and wise words you’ve provided me over the last several years and all of the incredible strength, you’ve forced me to see in myself. I know that I am stronger and I am capable to do anything I set my heart to.

Thank you for being my best friend, I can share with you my deepest, darkest insecurities that I wouldn’t dream of telling anyone else. It makes me feel so much better. Thank you for never making me feel like I’m burdening you with anything.

To take care of others. To not just care for me, but to look after the well-being of others is one of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned from you. I also learned from you how to forgive others, how to be patient, and how to love and respect, and always guided me to pray five times a day & taught me to always say the truth.

Life just wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you for everything, my darling sister.
